Heard Museum

The Heard Museum is one of the nation’s foremost centers for Native American art and culture, with 10 exhibit galleries featuring works drawn from the museum’s collection of more than 40,000 objects and free guided tours at least three times a day.

Highlights include more than 500 Hopi kachina dolls from the collections of Sen. Barry Goldwater and the Fred Harvey Co., sculptures by Chiricahua Apache artist Allen Houser, and a historical exhibit that covers native peoples from ancient times to today.

The museum, located just north of downtown Phoenix, also hosts the hoop dance world championship competition in February, an Indian fair and market in March, and a Spanish market and festival in November.

The museum also has a satellite facility in north Scottsdale.
