Chapel of the Holy Cross

The Chapel of the Holy Cross is nestled among the red rocks and is a significant landmark of town of Sedona. You will see the church high on the rocks as you drive between the Oak Creek and Sedona.

Construction of the church started in 1953 after Marguerite Staude obtained a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. The chapel doors opened in 1955 and has welcomed millions of people from all faiths.

In 2008 the Sedona Historic Preservation Commission designated the chapel as a Sedona Historic Landmark.

The chapel is currently owned by the Catholic Church. It is open to the public from 9:00 am -5:00 pm daily.
