Fountain Hills is located in the north east Phoenix metro area that neighbors the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and Scottsdale, AZ. The 2006 Census pegged the population at 24,669. It was once one of the fastest growing cities in Arizona but with the recent recession, it has fallen off that list. Fountain Hills boasts the fourth largest water fountain in the U.S.
